New research published in the journal Frontiers in Immunology has revealed that vitamin C combined with quercetin represents a powerful natural remedy for the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19).
Entitled, “Quercetin and Vitamin C: An Experimental Synergistic Therapy for the Prevention and Treatment of SARS-CoV-2 Related Disease (COVID-19),” the paper takes a detailed look at the antiviral properties of these two nutrients, which together show incredible promise in helping Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) patients recover.
It explains that quercetin has the ability to interfere “at multiple steps of pathogen virulence,” including at “virus entry, virus replication, (and) protein assembly” to inhibit the viral infection and proliferation. And when combined with vitamin C, quercetin is effective “for both the prophylaxis and the early treatment” of the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19), as well as other respiratory tract infections.
In case you are unfamiliar with it, quercetin is a plant pigment in the flavonoid family that possesses antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antiviral, and immune-protective properties. It has also been studied extensively for its ability to inhibit polymerases, proteases, and reverse transcriptase, as well as to suppress DNA gyrase and bind viral capsid proteins.
This might sound like complicated language to the average “Joe,” but suffice it to say that quercetin, especially when amplified by the presence of vitamin C, obstructs viral infection, as well as viral replication and proliferation.
In a related study published in the journal Medicine in Drug Discovery, researchers also looked at the antiviral benefits of high-dose vitamin C administered intravenously.
Dr. Richard Cheng, M.D., a U.S. board-certified anti-aging specialist from China, looked at how high-dose IV vitamin C has been successfully used to treat Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) patients in China, with doses varying from 2-10 grams per day given over a period of 8-10 hours.
Similar to what we reported about high-dose IV vitamin C treatments being given in Chinese clinical trials, Dr. Cheng’s research determined that this remedy is both safe and effective, and does not require any pharmaceuticals or vaccines.
“The oxygenation index was improving in real time and all the patients eventually cured and were discharged,” Dr. Cheng wrote.
“In fact, high-dose VC (vitamin C) has been clinically used for several decades and a recent NIH (National Institutes of Health) expert panel document states clearly that this regimen (1.5g/kg body weight) is safe and without major adverse events.”
As to how vitamin C works specifically to fight viruses, the paper explains that it supports lymphocyte activity, increases interferon-a production, modulates cytokines, reduces inflammation, improves endothelial dysfunction, and restores mitochondrial function.
“There are also suggestions that vitamin C may be directly viricidal,” the paper further explains.
“These in vitro effects … constitute a reflection of both the supra-physiological concentrations of ascorbate and the interaction between vitamin C and metal-containing culture media – both of which are pro-oxidant, generating reactive oxygen species.”
Meanwhile, the government and mainstream media continue to “warn” that vitamin C, despite what studies like this claim, is useless for treating the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19). They also claim that all other vitamins, minerals, and nutrients are likewise useless, and that the only way to stop the spread of the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) is to “mask up,” wash your hands, and live in fear until a vaccine becomes available.
We will leave it to you to decide, based on the available evidence and simple common sense, whether or not immune-boosting nutrients like vitamin C and quercetin hold any potential for remedying the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19). Is the only solution really just covering one’s face with a piece of cloth, or does nature once again hold the answers that the world is desperately seeking?
